Abstract

The absolute differential cross section for the H3(p)4He reaction was measured for 0.1≤Ep≤6.0 MeV. Gamma rays produced by proton bombardment of Ti3H targets were detected simultaneously with BGO and NaI scintillators positioned at 90° with respect to the incident beam. Our results are higher than the most recently reported (p,γ) data, but in good agreement with all other previous (p,γ) experiments. The present results support the He4(γ,p) cross sections recommended by Calarco et al. in their discussions of the charge asymmetry of the nuclear force in He4.
