Abstract

We exploit a simple direct reaction model to explain the characteristic behavior of isotope production in heavy ion reactions. The temperature parameter can, in this way, be related to the mean energy loss per nucleon transfer and to the transfer probability. It is not connected with the thermodynamical temperature of a partially equilibrated nuclear system.
