Abstract

Angular distributions at a bombarding energy of 67.5 MeV were measured for the Nd142(C13, C14)Nd141, Nd142(C13, C12)Nd143, and Nd142(C13, B12)Pm143 reactions. Spectroscopic factors were obtained by comparing finite-range recoil distorted-wave Born-approximation calculations with the data. Spin assignments were made for the nucleus Nd141. The usefulness of heavy-ion induced transfer reactions in preferentially populating high spin states in the final nucleus is discussed. The distorted-wave Born-approximation predictions are shown to be in good agreement with the experimental angular distributions except in cases of poor angular momentum matching in the entrance and exit channels.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Nd142(C13, C14), (C13, C12), (C13, B12), E=67.5 MeV; measured σ(Ec,θ). Nd141, Nd143, Pm143 levels, assigned Jπ, deduced C2S, DWBA analyses. Enriched target. Resolution 70 keV; θlab=30°75°, Δθ=3°.
