Semiempirical equation of state of solid hydrogen iodide

Abstract

We derive a semiempirical Birch-Murnaghan equation of state (EOS) for solid hydrogen iodide using those of HCl and HBr and a relation between the Debye temperature FTHETAD and the bulk moduli of the hydrogen halides. This EOS is compared at high pressures with one derived treating HI as iodine hydride.
