Abstract

Band-theory values of N(EF) and Ωp (density of states and Drude-plasma frequency) are used to extract dimensionless electron-phonon parameters λtr from the measured resistivity ρ and λγ from the measured low-T electronic specific heat γT for 25 cubic elements. In cases where independent reliable estimates of λ are available from the superconducting transition temperature Tc, λtr is consistent, and λγ, although more uncertain, seems meaningful. Empirical estimates of λ for the nonsuperconducting metals Ca, Ba, Fe, Ni, and Rh are suggested.
