Abstract

Rates of the two-, three-, four-, and five-photon annihilations of the electron-positron pairs are determined numerically for the three-body positronium ion Ps(ee+e) and four-body bipositronium “molecule” Ps2(ee+ee+). The values obtained in our computations are Γ2γ(Ps)2.08048530525×109s1, Γ3γ(Ps)5.6364151550×106s1, Γ4γ(Ps)3.075×103s1, Γ5γ(Ps)5.383s1, and Γ2γ(Ps2)4.4385952×109s1, Γ3γ(Ps2)1.202497×107s1, Γ4γ(Ps2)6.562×103s1, Γ5γ(Ps2)11.484s1. The four- and five-photon annihilation rates are significantly smaller than the corresponding two- and three-photon annihilation rates known for these systems. We also determine the rates of one- and zero-photon annihilation for the Ps ion and Ps2 system. The corresponding numerical values are Γ1γ(Ps)3.82491×102s1, Γ1γ(Ps2)1.94188×101s1, and Γ0γ(Ps2)2.32197×109s1.
