Abstract

The magneto-ionic theory for drifting plasma at large drift velocities is discussed by using Einstein's special theory of relativity and the Lorentz transformation, for the case where the drift velocity, the static magnetic field, and the electromagnetic wave propagation are all in the same longitudinal direction. It is shown that the algebraic equation thus found for the refractive index is identical with the one found previously in the first-order approximation for small drift velocities.
