Carlo Cercignani's article about Ludwig Boltzmann (September 2006 pp34–37) stated that Joseph Stefan was "Boltzmann's boss at Graz". In fact, Stefan held the chair of theoretical physics at the University of Vienna, where he supervised Boltzmann's PhD thesis on the kinetic theory of gases between 1863 and 1866.
