Abstract
I fear you unwittingly do a disservice to science in your reporting. In an otherwise commendable article on Pamela Denham (Physics World Dec. 1988 p52) you observe that she gained a PhD, and yet nowhere do you refer to her as Dr Denham. Elsewhere you do not hesitate in using personal titles: Sir Mark Oliphant, Sir Harrie Massie, Lord Flowers, Lord Weinstock....
