Abstract
A planar wideband dipole antenna for wireless application is presented. The antenna consists of a basic dipole like structure with a compact size of 22 × 12.5 mm2. The proposed configuration has a fractional bandwidth of 24% (4.4-5.64 GHz) in simulation and 29% (4.4-5.9 GHz) in measurement and centred at a frequency of 4.9 GHz (WLAN). The antenna analysis is carried out using HFSS v.13.0 on FR4 substrate material with thickness of 1.4 mm, δ(loss tangent) of 0.02 and dielectric constant (εr) of 4.4.The antenna has the advantage of simple configuration, high gain, stable dipole like radiation performances, wide bandwidth and is intended to be used for diverse wireless applications in the range of 4.4-5.9 GHz.
