Abstract

Bound-state energies of the static screened Coulomb potential have been re-examined in the light of the supersymmetry-motivated shifted large-N method proposed recently by Imbo and Sukhatme (1985). It has been shown that the degree of convergence of the 1/N expansion series improves significantly, particularly for large screening parameter, even if an approximate form for the ground-state wavefunction is used to construct the supersymmetric partner potential. The success of the calculation prompts the authors to make further applications of the method to other areas of atomic physics.
