Abstract

Theoretical results for the electron impact ionisation of neutral argon have been calculated using a two-state R-matrix approach in combination with the distorted-wave Born approximation (DWBA). Total and single differential cross sections including inner-shell ionisation are presented and compared with experiment and other theoretical data. The resonance structure of the Rydberg series is analysed and the influence of the distortion potential in the calculation of the distorted waves is investigated.
