Abstract
A low surface resistance, Rs, is central to the success of radio-frequency and microwave applications of HTS. The authors show how thick films of YBCO can be processed in such a manner that low Rs films may be prepared over large areas, and on curved surfaces, using inexpensive substrates. This raises the possibility of a range of applications, some of which are described. The frequency dependence of Rs is also discussed.
