Abstract

A simple `flip-flop' circuit has been used to reverse the voltage of a Geiger counter after each discharge, in order to reduce the insensitive time of the counter by collecting the positive ions on the wire. The new insensitive time is of the order of 3 × 10-5 sec. The circuit has been tested by measuring the inefficiency of a counter with a new, fast hard-valve anti-coincidence circuit.
