Abstract
The observed emission of both ratio and x-ray pulsars originates from plasmas under very extreme conditions. The common property is the occurrence of huge magnetic fields of the order of 108 T. Concerning the complex of problems associated with radio pulsars, we investigate the equations governing the magnetosphere of an aligned rotator and discuss possible structures of self-consistent solutions. In a second part, we deal with the accretion columns of x-ray pulsars, especially with the electron–photon interactions in hot strongly magnetized plasmas.
