Abstract

The authors study a new mean-field method to calculate the densities of states in random alloys with a Bethe lattice structure. The formalism includes both diagonal and off-diagonal disorder as well as short-range order. Results in one-dimension are compared with exact spectra. The method is compared with other mean-field approximations. This approach is shown to exhibit the correct behaviour around certain limits.
