Abstract

The ratio of penetrating particles to electrons in extensive cosmic-ray showers has been investigated experimentally at sea level. For the great majority of showers this ratio, in agreement with previous results, is found to be 2.5%. A small number of showers was detected in which the proportion of penetrating particles was much greater.
