Abstract
The matrix elements of the generators of SU(3) and of the basic O(3) scalars in the enveloping algebra of SU(3) have been calculated between the states of (i) the noncanonical basis of Bargmann and Moshinsky (1961), and (ii) the orthonormalised (by means of the Hilbert-Schmidt procedure) basis. The analytical expressions for the matrix elements are given in tabular form for mu =0, 1, 2, 3 and lambda > mu . The results obtained are of some physical interest in building the algebraic SU(3) model of heavy deformed even-even nuclei.
