Abstract

An account is given of a 'positive' replica technique which has been developed for studying the polishing of road surfacing aggregates by scanning electron microscopy. The technique allows the continuous nondestructive observation of roadstone in situ in the road surface at magnifications up to 5000. The technique should also be of value in many other fields of research. A method for marking specimens for identification purposes is also described.
