Evidence for an Optically Thick Component in the Galactic Radio Source Sagittarius B2
Abstract
The measured flux density of Sgr B2 at wavelength 3.55 mm exceeds that predicted by extrapolation of the microwave spectrum and indeed is higher than the observed flux density at wavelength 9.5 mm. This effect may be due to the presence of a compact, optically thick source component. Observations of DR 21 and W3 at 3.55 mm are also discussed.
