Group-specific antiserum detects potyviruses in several wild plant species in south-eastern Australia

Abstract

Wild plants growing in southern New South Wales and showing mosaic symptoms were tested in ELISA and ISEM tests using a commercial monoclonal antibody that reacts with all aphid-transmitted potyviruses with which it has been tested. Nine plant species were tested, three of them monocotyledons. Six were found to contain potyvirus virions by both test methods.
