Abstract
Colocasia bobone disease virus, a rhabdovirus associated with Bobone and Alomae diseases oftaro in the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea, was compared with a rhabdovirus associated with veinal chlorosis of taro in several Pacific Islands. Differences in serological reaction, particle size and disease symptoms indicate the existence of two distinct strains or viruses. The name taro vein chlorosis virus is suggested for the second strain/virus.
