    Citation Excerpt :

Plain abdominal radiography is neither sensitive nor specific and may reveal findings such as thumbprinting, air-filled loops, colonic aperistalsis, mural thickening, and exhausted bowel in up to 21% of patients. It may be a useful examination for excluding colon infarction.33 Barium contrast enema may suggest colon ischemia with the thumbprint sign seen in 75% of patients.
