Abstract
People’s lives started to change in a slow but profound way when the original web came into existence. More recently, people even have started to comprehend things that are new for them by comparing them with the web, and the web has become a model for interacting with technology also in non-web contexts. For instance, the interface of games, television screens and ticket kiosks start to resemble the web, which means that technology and application developers already assume that majority of people know how to use the web. Moreover, the social web’s breakthrough has made it an integral part of our way of thinking and perception of the world. For those growing up with the web, it is also what they have always experienced, whereas people who grew up before the web have experienced the change in their perception of the world. Skills that are needed to succeed in the modern environment and our view about people, their nature and abilities have changed, and the social web has also dramatically transformed how companies conduct business and design software.
