The Paradox of the Solution: The Impact of the Kosovo Question on Macedonia

Abstract

This chapter provides a political analysis of the complex scenarios that could result from the final outcome regarding the status of Kosovo. It examines, in particular, the possible implications that the final decision on the Kosovo status will have on the Republic of Macedonia.¹ At the same time, it aims to show how an incredibly complex regional paradox would inevitably emerge, whereby, regardless of the outcome of the Kosovo question, the solution for Kosovo could inexorably integrate the majority populations in both Serbia and Kosovo, both in terms of their social realities as well as of their political agendas.
