Abstract
In the 1930s, Spain did not have a proper film industry. The film market of the politically and economically unstable nation was dominated by foreign, especially American, companies. As this chapter will demonstrate, the German film industry tried to expand its influence while and after Hitler helped General Franco win the Civil War (1936–39). However, this modest success proved short-lived.1
