Abstract

From having his own single mother to acquiring a guardian and single adoptive father seems to be a long step for a twelve-year-old boy. Father Francis became a father-figure who guided Ronald firmly in his education, both economically and pedagogically. A new period had entered Ronald’s life. It has been clear from my account how much his mother meant in the forming of Ronald’s character and for his linguistic interests and skills. Now follows a stage in his development where his contact with literature becomes more obvious and where the intellectual stimulus of the school becomes more marked.
