Future trends in revenue management

Abstract

This article discusses the future trends in Revenue Management (RM) in hotel sector taking into account the findings of an investigation conducted by the authors at hotels in Madrid (Spain). This allows the detection of errors found in RM and future trends point to resolve these errors. Perhaps, the most important trend is to focus this management philosophy in customer value and not on the income or profits in situ.

In the education field, she has been the Director of the University School of Tourism at the European University (Madrid,Spain) for seven years, Actually She is a professor Ph Contracted in the Department of Business Economics and Vicedean of University Extension, Internship and Social Policy at the University Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid, Spain). Moreover, at the same university, is Director of Master in Revenue Management and Master Web 2.0: the New Customer. Professor in Masters, PhDs and courses in different institutions and universities (Chamber of Commerce, European University of Madrid, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, ICADE, Politecnica de Madrid, etc). On the other hand, she has published numerous books and articles about the hotel industry: Hotel Management: Operations and Process, Product Marketing and Tourism Services, Yield Revenue Management in the Hotel Industry: Strategies and Implementation, etc. In the professional field, she has been director in Hotels and Travel Agencies. Her speciality area is the Revenue Management and the Hotel Distribution.

2PhD in Economics and Business Administration (Finance) and Ph. Contracted in Business Administration Departament of Rey Juan Carlos University. Researcher and director in numerous research and consultancy projects developed with organizations such as the Madrid Stock Exchange, KPMG / General Council of the Judiciary, Dirección General de Economía de la Comunidad de Madrid, College of Dentistry and Stomatology of the First Region and Banco Santander Central Hispano. She is the author of several articles and books related to management and business administration. She has also developed assessment tasks for different national and international publications. Professor in Masters, PhDs and courses in different institutions and universities (Chamber of Commerce, European University of Madrid, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Universidad Católica de Ávila, Caja Madrid,Spanish Confederation of Savings Banks, etc.).From 2002 to 2004 Director of the Doctorate Programm in Economics and Business Administration at the European University of Madrid and currently responsible of various training programs.
