ZUSAMMENFASSUNG

Die Bedeutung des Vorliegens einer Herzinsuffizienz bei Patienten mit Diabetes ist lange Zeit unterschätzt worden. Daten der letzten Jahre konnten zeigen, dass Menschen mit Diabetes ein hohes Risiko haben, eine Herzinsuffizienz zu entwickeln und dass diese Situation einer schlechten Prognose assoziiert ist. Der folgende Artikel gibt eine Übersicht über den Erkenntnisstand zur Inzidenz und der Prognose von Herzinsuffizienz und Diabetes und legt einen Fokus auf die mitunter schwierige Diagnostik einer Herzinsuffizienz in dieser Hochrisikopopulation.
