Abstract

A study of the furocoumarin content of Ammi majus L. fruits at different stages of maturity was undertaken. The samples collected at different stages of maturity contained similar constituents. Highest percentage, as well as, yield of the main furocoumarins, viz., xanthotoxin, bergapten, imperatorin and their total value per 100 air–dried fruits, were found in the mature unripe fruits.
