Abstract

Three flavonoids have been isolated from the ripe fruit of Popowia cauliflora Chipp and identified, by spectral analysis and chemical interconversion, as kanakugin (5,6,7,8–tetramethoxyflava–none), kanakugiol (2'–hydroxy–3',4',5', 6'–tetramethoxychalcone) and baicalein trimethyl ether (5,6,7–trimethoxyflavone).
