2007, Journal of Comparative PathologyCitation Excerpt :Rat normal uterus tissues including smooth muscle layers and epithelia (for vimentin, α-SMA, desmin and cytokeratin), sciatic nerve (for S-100 protein), brain (for GFAP, MBP and NSE), and splenic macrophages (for ED1, ED2 and OX6) were used as positive controls. ED1, ED2 and OX6 have been utilized to identify histiocytes and macrophages in diseased rat tissues (Yamate et al., 2001a, b). For enzymehistochemistry, frozen sections from fresh tumour tissues were fixed in cold acetone, and then stained for acid phosphatase (ACP) by Gomori's method (pH 5.0), non-specific esterase (Non-SE) by the α-naphthyl acetate method (pH 7.4) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) by the naphthol AS method (pH 9.0).
