    Acute on chronic liver failure (ACLF) in adults is conceptually characterized by acute decompensation of cirrhosis, organ failure(s) and extremely poor survival.26 However, there is lack of agreement between the definitions given in the East and the West.27 Both definitions do not seem to identify the same set of patients28 which often makes “ACLF” a confusing entity.
