1310 to 1550 nm transmultiplexing based on nonlinear polarisation rotation in a single semiconductor optical amplifier is proposed. Error-free 2×5 Gbit/s 1310 nm to 10 Gbit/s 1550 nm transmultiplexing is demonstrated.
