The simultaneous spectral equalisation of the C- and L-bands, achieved using a planar lightwave circuit (PLC)-based dynamic gain equaliser consisting of 10 cascaded Fourier-series Mach-Zehnder interferometers, is described. Gain flattening over 68 nm with a 0.9 dB ripple for an Er3+-doped tellurite fibre amplifier was realised.
