The first tunable Nd3+ fibre laser utilising two intra-core Bragg grating reflectors for cavity feedback has been demonstrated. Intra-core Bragg reflectors were formed holographically by transversely exposing the core to a two-beam interference pattern. This rugged fibre laser incorporated low reflectivity gratings but recent advances have made it possible to fabricate reflectors in excess of 94% into the Nd3+ doped fibre.
