Proposed is the design of two-dimensional (2-D) wideband filters with sharp transition edges using both the frequency response masking technique and the frequency transformation method. Preliminarily results are presented where the passbands are circular, rectangular, fan-shaped and quadrilateral. The passbands are wideband while the stopband attenuation is high and the transition edges are steep.
