Methods established in part VIII have been used to synthesise methyl 12-ethylenedioxy-6aα,7,12,12aα-tetrahydro-11-hydroxy-8,9-dimethoxy-6-oxo-1-phenyl-6H-naphthaceno[1,12-bc]furan-10-carboxylate (I; R = H).
