The electronic properties of monohalogenobisbipyridyl copper(II) complexes

Abstract

The electron spin resonance and electronic spectra of a series of monohalogenobisbipyridyl copper(II) complexes have been examined in the solid state, and the results are interpreted in terms of a compressed trigonal bipyramidal configuration for the copper(II) ion, giving rise to an 2A1′ ground state.
