Faraday communications. Three candidates for the structure of C84

Abstract

Qualitative molecular-orbital theory predicts three plausible structures for C84 of which one has sixfold axial symmetry, one is tetrahedral and one chiral. All are fullerenes and all have a closed-shell electronic structure.
