Evolution of nano- to microsized spherical assemblies of fluorogenic biscalix[4]arenes into supramolecular organogels

Abstract

A biscalix[4]arene (1) capable of spontaneous self-assembly into nanoparticles and microspheres in CH3CN was serendipitously observed, and it eventually formed stable blue-light emitting supramolecular organogels.
