Stereochemistry in the reaction of an optically active secondary alkyl chloride with triphenylsilyl-lithium

Abstract

The reaction of (R)-4-phenyl-2-chlorobutane with triphenylsilyl-lithium in tetrahydrofuran was found to proceed with complete inversion of stereochemistry to give (S)-4-phenyl-2-triphenylsilylbutane
