Synthesis and photoluminescence properties of hexagonal Lanthanide(iii)-doped NaYF4 microprisms

Abstract

NaYF4:Ln3+ (Ln = Eu, Sm, Pr and Yb/Er) hexagonal microprisms have been successfully synthesized using a mild hydrothermal method. Field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) have been employed to investigate the formation of NaYF4:Ln3+ hexagonal microprisms and a possible growth mechanism was proposed. The down- and up- conversion luminescence of hexagonal NaYF4:Ln3+ (Ln = Eu, Sm, Pr and Yb/Er) microprisms have been characterized.
