Intermolecular hinge—a new function of the C–H⋯π hydrogen bond

Abstract

Comparison of the crystal structures of brucinium bromide dihydrate and related compounds reveals that C–H⋯π hydrogen bonds, stabilized common brucine/brucinium self-assemblies—corrugated and puckered layers, display a function of an intermolecular hinge.
