A mechanochemical route toward the rational, systematic, and cost-effective green synthesis of strongly luminescent copper iodide based hybrid phosphors

Abstract

Mechanochemical synthesis via simple manual grinding is one of the most commonly used green synthetic approaches and is applied here for the synthesis of new hybrid phosphors Cu2I2(tpp)2(L)n (n = 1, 2). They are strongly luminescent with high internal quantum yields (most above 66% and highest over 92%). The green synthetic route can easily be scaled up to further lower the cost and minimize the usage of auxiliary substances, bringing these materials one step closer towards commercialization.
