Surface tensions of simple liquids

Abstract

The variation of surface tension with temperature has been determined for several cryogenic fluids. Differential capillary rise measurements have been performed on nitrogen, argon, carbon monoxide and methane. From these as well as previous measurements, parameters of the Ferguson and Guggenheim equations have been calculated from experimental data on nine cryogenic fluids. The surface tensions of simple liquids are considered with reference to the theory of corresponding states.
