Efficient photoelectrochemical in-situ regeneration of NAD(P)+ coupled to enzymatic oxidation of alcohols

Abstract

The photoelectrochemical regeneration of NAD(P)+ has been accomplished. With Ru(bipy)2+ as a photosensitizer, methyl viologen, (MV2+) as a primary electron acceptor (reoxidized at an anode), and NAD(P)H as an electron donor, NAD(P)+ is formed. This photoelectrochemical NAD(P)+ regeneration system has been coupled to enzyme-catalysed oxidations of alcohols.
