A sapphire cell for high-temperature Raman studies of reactive gases. The vibrational spectra of Sef4, SeOF2, TiF4, and SbF3

Abstract

The vibrational spectra of TiF4(Raman: solid, gas), SbF3(Raman : solid, gas, solution in methanol; infrared : solid), SeOF2(Raman : solid, liquid, gas), SeF4(Raman : solid (two forms), liquid, gas; i.r. : gas) are reported. The use of vibrational spectroscopy to study polymerisation in condensed phases is discussed with particular reference to ClF3 and the title compounds.
