Synthesis of α-aminophosphorous derivatives using a deep eutectic solvent (DES) in a dual role

Abstract

A deep eutectic solvent (DES) containing choline chloride (ChCl) and urea (1 : 2) was introduced as an efficient, cost-effective, reusable, and environmentally benign medium for the metal-free synthesis of α-aminophosphine oxide/phosphonate derivatives from one-pot, three-component hydrophosphorylation reactions of aldehydes, amines, and diphenylphosphine oxides/diethylphosphite. Here ChCl–urea (1 : 2) DES played a dual role, namely that of a solvent as well as an efficient catalyst. Using this protocol, diverse α-aminophosphorous derivatives were obtained in excellent yields after short duration, with decent functional group tolerance.
