Demetallation of a dimolybdenum cyclotetraphosphoxane cage complex and the syntheses of heterobimetallic cages

Abstract

Selective excision of the MoII vertex in the mixed-valent, adamantanoid cage complex Mo(CO)4[Pri2NPO]4Mo(CO)2I2 with sodium dithiocarbamate gave the metalla-ligand Mo(CO)4[Pri2NPO]4 which is a precursor to novel heterobimetallic cage complexes Mo(CO)4[Pri2NPO]4MLn where MLn can be Cr(CO)4, W(CO)4, Fe(CO)3, NiBr2, PtCl2 or Cu(MeCN)2BF4.
